After World War II, Charlie Makdad began his career as a refrigeration mechanic at Altoona’s Sealtest Dairy. New technologies of mechanical refrigeration and air conditioning being the wave of the future, he purchased the Allen Supply Co. in 1948 and built it into a valued partner for area contractors.
Since 1994, Charlie’s son Jack, a former Navy pilot, has run the family business. Six decades after its founding, Makdad Supply Company now operates six convenient Central Pennsylvania locations. In 2021 Makdad was purchased by Baker Distributing, a Watsco company.
In addition to providing customers with fast access to more than 22,000 in-stock parts and supplies, award-winning Makdad offers in-house training classes. Clients can keep up-to-date on the latest industry techniques.
